Stones of Serenity

We welcome back to our Zurich store, ‘za kekkai’ stones by Buddhist Zen monk Tosei Shinabe for a special two-week exhibition, showcasing the launch of the new stone pairs. Instilling a wonderfully serene atmosphere in your home, these spiritual objects will also be available as singles, with 37 in total. As always, Tosei carefully selects the natural stones from Awaji Island, in Japan’s Seto Inland Sea, choosing the ones that most resonate with him for their raw, earthy beauty. He then carries them back to Kyoto’s oldest Zen temple, where he sits peacefully, cross-legged, meticulously twisting, braiding and knotting his own rope from the finest blonde-coloured Japanese hemp. Trussing up each stone in a shimmering length – traditionally used in Shinto rituals – Tosei finally infuses them with prayers. We warmly invite you to experience ‘za kekkai’ stones in-store from the 14th of November. You will be able to reserve your favourite stone or pair during the exhibition for purchase at the end, before they also become available in our online shop on the 25th.
