Gyokuro Experience

Guests of the AGOBAY café in Zurich can now enjoy gyokuro, Japan’s rarest and most exclusive green tea, in a special 30-minute ritual at the bar. The tea will be prepared by one of our team using a flat-shaped teapot, known in Japan as a ‘hohin’, which is especially crafted for brewing gyokuro. During each experience, the tea leaves will be steeped and served three times for a full range of flavours, and accompanied by a sweet treat. Our own AGOBAY gyokuro is grown in the terroirs of Uji, Kyoto, in limited quantities, due to its delicate cultivation process. To develop a robust umami flavour, the leaves are shielded from sunlight for 20 days before harvest. Each steep during our Gyokuro Experience involves varying brew times, allowing for an intense first cup, leading to a lighter, refreshing final cup.
