The natural variations in the leather’s appearance lend additional individuality and character to this handcrafted object. The front features the embossed Arts & Science key mark.
The leather is crafted using the traditional Vachetta method, an age-old Italian tanning technique dating back over 1,000 years. During processing, the leather embraces the natural characteristics of the animal, resulting in captivating features like wrinkles, moles and blood streaks, which highlight the innate quality of the leather. These irregularities are distinctive attributes of genuine leather and should not be mistaken for flaws.
The leather develops a rich, lustrous sheen with use, while retaining its supple elegance over time.
Following product dyeing, a special finishing process is applied, imparting a one-of-a-kind appearance. Tanning occurs gradually, using tannin extracted mainly from plant bark, and meticulous greasing with beef leg oil. Though time and effort are required for the oil to permeate the leather, it ensures exceptional absorption and retention. With each use, the leather grows stronger, acquiring a delightful sheen, suppleness and a beautifully aged allure.

Gently clean your leather piece with a soft and dry cloth to remove dust and deposits. As water might cause stains, exercise caution. If you decide to use a specialised leather care product, seek professional advice and test it on a discreet, less visible area to observe how the leather reacts before applying it to the entire surface. Placing wet items in the key pouch may cause colour migration. In case of exposure to moisture, like rain, promptly wipe it off with a soft, dry cloth.
Any small scratches and scuffs that occur will gradually blend in over time, while the colour and lustre of your piece will improve with use.
