Shingo Oka
Small white jar
White porcelain, carved pattern, white glaze, removable lid
Description
Designed to be used as a tea caddy, this petite lidded jar features a pattern of hand-carved lines that pleases both hand and eye. It has been crafted from porcelain in the ‘Licho’ style, dating back to the Yi Dynasty in ancient Korea. The Japanese artist, Shingo Oka, can be found most days at his pottery wheel, drawing out what lies within, which includes a deep knowledge of ceramic history.

AGOBAY Showroom ZurichThough it is made from white porcelain, the jar has also had a white glaze applied to it rather than a clear one. This gives it more of a deeply opaque finish. It stands neatly at just 10cm high and 8cm wide, and has a beautifully bulbous shape that starts slightly narrowed at the base before curving up, out and gently in again. With its snugly fitting lid, it could be used to store not only tea, but also herbs, spices or perhaps even treasured trinkets.

Taking care of your small white jar includes avoiding stacking it with or storing it against other objects to prevent scratches or cracks. Wipe it with a soft cloth to dust it.
Rinse it with water using a soft dish cloth after each use. After cleaning it, let it air dry fully before you store it again. Do not wash it with any cleaning agents and avoid using abrasive sponges, dishwashers or drying machines.
The jar must not be directly exposed to temperature shocks – whether from a flame, conventional oven, microwave, induction cooktop, freezer, refrigerator or other source of heat or cold. If you notice cracks, chips or deep scrapes, please stop using it, as these can cause the item to break at any time.
As our objects are crafted in small batches and often made to order by our artisans, we regretfully do not accept any returns.
